Glacier Electric Cooperative has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to fill the position of manager of member services. Glacier Electric is a member-owned electric cooperative serving 5,100 members in northwestern Montana. The cooperative headquarters is located in Cut Bank, Mont. The diverse membership base is comprised of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, several Canadian/U.S. Border crossings, most of Glacier National Park, several small towns and a significant rural agricultural load.
Key areas of emphasis for this position include: Member communications (publications, website, public speaking); internal communications; member events / annual meeting; community involvement / public relations; energy efficiency programs; economic development (Revolving Loan Fund and reporting).
Required skills: The ability to effectively coordinate available resources is essential. The ability to effectively communicate with others, both orally and in writing, is essential.
Education & experience: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in communications, marketing or related field; or 10 years of related experience in public communications is desirable. Additional training in energy services, energy efficiency programs, marketing, supervision, desktop publishing, website design or maintenance and advertising is highly desirable.
Knowledge: A thorough working knowledge of desktop publishing, media communications techniques and marketing is required. Other preferred areas of knowledge include energy efficiency, public and media relations, public speaking, photography and editing.
Lifting capacity: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. This position is a non-union, staff level position that reports directly to the General Manager. The successful candidate must pass an initial substance screening and, as an employee, will be subject to random drug/controlled substance screenings.

Ravalli County Electric Cooperative (REC) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a vacancy in its Engineering Department. Applicants must have experience, an engineering degree or five years of experience in construction/operations or system planning/protection, and design in the power utility industry is definitely a plus.
This position will require the applicant to locate within 30 minutes of REC headquarters. Field work with some strenuous physical activity, including walking, climbing and lifting, is required, as well as competency with computer-aided business practices typical in the industry. Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Lineman, Journeyman Line Foreman & Journeyman Lineman Sub-Foreman
Sheridan Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for a journeyman electrician, a journeyman lineman, journeyman line foreman and journeyman lineman sub-foreman.
SEC is a rural electric cooperative located in northeastern Montana. The cooperative serves approximately 4,105 meters, and has 2,600 miles of distribution line and 150 miles of transmission line. Its headquarter operations are in Medicine Lake.
Applicants for the journeyman electrician position must have schooling or experience in the electrician or inside wiremen field, and be able to obtain a Montana commercial driver’s license. This position pays $36 per hour.
Applicants for the journeyman lineman position must have experience in rural electric distribution systems and be able to obtain a Montana commercial driver’s license. This position pays $39 per hour.
Applicants for the journeyman line foreman position must have experience in rural electric distribution systems and be able to obtain a Montana commercial driver’s license. This candidate also must have experience in directing and controlling daily activities with line personnel in the field. Great communication skills and an ability to become a part of a team are the most basic of traits needed. This position will report directly to the line superintendent. This position pays $41 per hour.
Applicants for the journeyman lineman sub-foreman position must have experience in rural electric distribution systems and be able to obtain a Montana commercial driver’s license. This candidate also must have experience in directing and controlling daily activities with line personnel in the field. Director of Operations
Flathead Electric Cooperative is currently accepting applications for the position of Director of Operations. This is a full-time exempt position. Wage depends on experience, with an excellent benefits package.
Duties: Play a strong and visible role in promoting continued improvements to FEC’s safety culture; plan, direct, coordinate and oversee the construction, maintenance and repair of FEC’s distribution and transmission system, including coordinating operation and maintenance activities with other co-op departments; supervise the management of the line crews, servicemen, dispatch, right-of-way program, fleet, warehouse, Libby district and the employee in Cooke City.
Prerequisite Skills and Experience: Must have a current Montana driver’s license and be insurable; professional personal appearance at all times even though dress is casual; considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of building and maintaining electric plant, grounding and right-of-way maintenance; considerable knowledge of the equipment, materials and supplies used in building and maintaining electric plant, grounding and right-of-way maintenance; familiar with the National Electrical Safety Code, National Electrical Code, and state or local electric codes; experience as a journeyman lineman and/or foreman or applicable electrical engineering experience and education; effective verbal communications skills, to include handling difficult situations; good customer service skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with a team; demonstrated people management and leadership skills; effective written communication skills, including being proficient in the use of personal computers; able to travel occasionally out-of-area and overnight. Physical requirements of the position are as follows: 1. Must be able to move throughout the building as needed each workday; 2. Able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours a day using a computer, telephone, etc.; 3. Able to walk and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day over all types of terrain and in all types of weather conditions; must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; 4. Northern Electric Cooperative, based in Bath, S.D., is seeking to fill its general manager/CEO position. The co-op has more than 2,840 miles of line in portions of 10 northeast South Dakota counties. Distribution engineering supervisor
Mission Valley Power, based in Pablo, Mont., has an opening for a distribution engineering supervisor.
The person in this position will prepare and direct the preparation of engineering plans and cost estimates for construction of improvements to the utility’s electrical system, and receive and complete assignments involving applications for service, operating problems or general improvements. This position involves gathering information by making field observations and measurements, and consulting Mission Valley Power maps and operating records. The person will be required to enter high-voltage substations, open locked, pad-mounted switch gear to inspect and review installations, make engineering analysis of problems and make appropriate recommendations. The person also will provide general engineering assistance for Mission Valley
Power as needed, and give professional guidance and advice to all department employees and contractors on a regular basis.
Qualifications required for hiring include an engineering degree (a professional engineer license for Montana is preferred), a minimum of four years’ experience involving the engineering of utility power lines, including two years of supervising or directing other personnel in technical aspects of engineering, or five years of other engineering experience, with a minimum of two years supervisory experience.
