Apprentice Lineman

This full-time position at Ravalli County Electric Cooperative (RCEC) will train through on-the-job training and coursework to become a Journeyman Lineman.  Primary responsibility is to assist the Journeyman Lineman with constructing, converting, relocating and performing maintenance and service work on lines throughout the area served by the organization.  Successful completion of the apprenticeship is mandatory.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a current Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Driving and operating equipment is required.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Periodical on-call 24/7 duty required.
  • Live within 30 minutes of REC headquarters.
  • Occasional out-of-area travel which can include several days of overnight stay.
  • Periodic overtime is required.
  • Requires excellent physical strength in order to meet the following:
    • Gain the ability to climb and work on poles, trees and towers up to 100 feet tall.
    • Able to lift, carry, hold, and use equipment, poles, etc. up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work with both arms overhead, grip and hold lines and ropes with up to 80 pounds weight attached, and work with small components throughout the workday.
    • Will be working outdoors year-around in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions
    • Must be able to walk up to 3 miles; may be necessary to wear snowshoes, skis and operate a snowmobile.
    • Must be able to stand, sit, kneel and crouch throughout the workday.
    • Must be able to follow safety protocol and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communications skills, to include:
    • Good member/employee service skills
    • Ability to handle difficult situations
    • Ability to effectively work with a team
  • Must be organized, accurate, and give strong attention to detail
  • This position is subject to random drug screening.

Assistant General Manager of Accounting and Office Services

Glacier Electric Cooperative seeks a dynamic, team-oriented individual to join our team as assistant manager of accounting and office services. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, vision, integrity, a and a commitment to excellence, and must have strong self-management capability, and proven accounting and management skills.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in accounting or finance, with 5 years of experience as a CPA, is desirable.  Advanced knowledge of Word and Excel is required. The applicant also must be prepared to be cross-trained to back up other critical positions.  Electric utility experience and NISC software experience are preferred.  Applicant must demonstrate proficient oral and written communication skills.

General Manager

Journeyman Lineman

Fergus Electric Cooperative, Inc. has an immediate opening for a qualified journeyman lineman.  Requirements include a high school diploma/GED, successful completion of an apprenticeship program involving a minimum of four years line experience in OH/UG electric distribution, including all phases of line construction, maintenance and troubleshooting.  A valid Montana Class A CDL with excellent driving record is required.  The person in this position will be located at Fergus Electric’s satellite office in Roundup, Mont. Technical skills testing and a drug screen is required.

Journeyman Line Foreman

Sheridan Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for a journeyman line foreman.
SEC is a rural electric cooperative located in northeastern Montana.  The cooperative serves approximately 4,105 meters, and has 2,600 miles of distribution line and 150 miles of transmission line. Its headquarter operations are in Medicine Lake.
Applicants for the journeyman line foreman position must have experience in rural electric distribution systems and be able to obtain a Montana commercial driver’s license. This candidate also must have experience in directing and controlling daily activities with line personnel in the field. Great communication skills and an ability to become a part of a team are the most basic of traits needed. This position will report directly to the line superintendent. This position pays $41 per hour.
